Diaphragm fatigue predisposes to rhythmic contraction abnormalities (hyperexcitability disorders). These include diaphragm flutter and cramp-like contracture (DCC). The latter can induce sudden deaths by respiratory arrest like SIDS, SUDC and SCD.
